 Lucey

Lt. Scott Lucey is as solid a firefighter, and leader, as you will find.  He started his career with the Quincy Fire Department on March 4, 1996 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on June 1, 2004.  Below are just some of the certifications that Lt. Lucey holds:

Associate Degree in Fire Science from John Wood Community College

Paramedic – Illinois Department of Public Health

Firefighter III – Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Instructor I – Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Fire Apparatus Engineer – Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Fire Officer I – Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Airport Rescue Fire Fighter – Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Lt. Lucey has served the department as a member of the Dive Team, Hazardous Materials Team, Technical Rescue Team and serves as one of the Department’s designated Airport Firefighters.

Lt. Lucey currently serves as one of the Department’s Shift Training Coordinators.  He works with the Deputy Chief of Administrations to come up with monthly training and then works to deliver said training to the shift.  He has held this position for a number of years.

Lt. Lucey’s crew was recognized as the Quincy Fire Department’s Crew of the Month for September.  One reason for this recognition is the leadership he demonstrates on emergency scenes and the respect he has earned from his crew members.

As Fire Chief, I don’t get “in to the trenches” as much as I have in the past.  However, I had the privilege of working alongside of Lt. Lucey when I was a Lieutenant.  I always found him to be skilled, knowledgeable, professional, compassionate and reliable.  These traits still stand today.  When there is a need to identify an officer that can be relied upon to “get things done”, Lt. Lucey is one of the first to come to mind.  He has not received many accolades over the span of his career.  This is not indicative of his worthiness for this recognition.  In fact, I feel it strengthens it.  He is not a man that seeks out attention; he simply works hard, leads by example and gives the Citizens of Quincy a great return on their investment.
