The Quincy Fire Department is proud to announce that four firefighters will be receiving the Firefighting Excellence Award from the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal at a ceremony to be held in Springfield on May 12th.  The Firefighter Excellence Award is awarded for an act of service in the line of duty, demonstrating excellence and professionalism in service to the citizens in the State of Illinois.

The firefighters are being recognized for their efforts at the Hotel Elkton fire that took place on December 12, 2014.  At this fire, these men facilitated the rescue and removal of multiple occupants from the fire floor under quickly deteriorating fire conditions. Those being recognized are:
