Office of Corporation Counsel

The Office of Corporation Counsel was created under Section 6.001 of the Municipal Code of the City of Quincy.  The Corporation Counsel is the chief legal advisor to the City of Quincy and is appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council.  The Corporation Counsel prosecutes and defends lawsuits or legal actions to which the City may be a party or in which the City may have legal interests.  The Corporation Counsel also prosecutes or defends actions brought by or against any officer of the City in their capacity as a City official.  The Office of Corporation Counsel oversees the enforcement of Judgments and Decrees rendered in favor of the City, is the chief legal advisor to the City Council, its committees, commissions, boards and officials and drafts or supervises the drafting of contracts, leases or other legal documents on behalf of the City of Quincy.
