Office of City Attorney

The Office of the City Attorney was created under Title III Chapter 36 of the Municipal Code of the City of Quincy.  The City Attorney is appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.  The City Attorney is the chief prosecutor for the City of Quincy.  The City Attorney prosecutes all cases involving the violation of City Ordinances and assists the Quincy Police Department in resolving legal issues which arise during the course of their enforcement activities.  In addition to those duties, the City Attorney prosecutes claims for amounts due under the City of Quincy Purchase Tax Ordinance and assists the Corporation Counsel.
