The City of Quincy is proud to have been named Tree City USA for the past 21 years. The Forestry Department has an inventory of over 18,000 trees throughout the city, which is maintained through a program of removals and trimming. All work is handled either through your alderman or a call directly to Central Services. When available, the city offers a variety of trees that can be purchased at a reduced price, which the crews will plant on the right of way in front of your residence.
The city also offers a site where residents can drop off yard waste and tree limbs at no charge. Periodically, the Forestry Department has a crew that chips brush at curbside. This is intended for cleanup of storm damage of city trees and small limbs from yards. Limbs need to be piled neatly at curbside. Other yard waste needs to be put in a biodegradable paper bag capable of withstanding all types of weather. Bags may be purchased locally and placed at curbside.
