Road Closure: South 21st Street, Harrison to Adams Streets
Weather permitting, Rees Construction for the City of Quincy will begin the street reconstruction project on South 21st Street between Harrison Street and Jackson Street on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
The project scope involves completely reconstructing the roadway, including new pavement, curbs, and water main replacement. To accommodate construction activities, South 21st Street will be closed to traffic between Harrison Street and Adams Street. Van Buren and Jackson Streets shall be closed from South 20th to South 22nd. Harrison Street will remain open for the duration of the project.
While the street will be closed to through traffic, access for residents living along South 21st Street between the construction limits will be maintained as much as possible. However, there may be temporary restrictions or delays depending on the specific construction activities taking place.
The City anticipates the project will take approximately three months to complete, with an expected reopening of South 21st Street by early August 2024, weather permitting.
Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect delays in the area during construction. The City appreciates the public's patience and understanding as we work to improve the infrastructure in this neighborhood.
