October 2012

Sergeant Dan DuHamel

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Sergeant Dan DuHamel has been selected as Employee of the Month for the month of October 2012.

Sgt. DuHamel joined the Quincy Police Department on September 23, 1998. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University. In 1999, Sgt. DuHamel was transferred to the Investigative Unit as a Youth Investigator; he later served as a Criminal Investigator. On August 30, 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and has since worked as a Patrol Supervisor. He is a Master Taser Instructor, a certified juvenile officer, and a clan lab officer. In 2011, Sgt. DuHamel received the department's traffic safety award as the Grant Officer for 2011.

Sergeant DuHamel was nominated for this award due to his work in traffic safety. He is very proactive in traffic enforcement. He sets an example for his shift by targeting violators that are driving suspended or under the influence of drugs. His efforts result in numerous people being removed from the street that have no business driving. He exemplifies the saying "Traffic Safety is Public Safety."

Please join me in congratulating Sergeant DuHamel for being selected as the Quincy Police Department's Employee of the Month.
